Like several other Spanish towns, Mazarrón is divided into a main, more traditional town located some kilometres inland, and a separate coastal town that not only has all the facilities, amenities and services of the main town, but is also located on a very pretty coast with a marina and several islands, promontories and beaches. Puerto de Mazarrón, named after the port that is located in one of the many sheltered bays, is a generally flat town that has shops, restaurants, plenty of places to cycle and many waterside promenades for pleasant walks.
Because it is generally still a Spanish town and visited mostly by Spanish visitors, there is varied accommodation at prices for a range of budgets. In 2025, with two bedroom apartments available to rent for less than €700 per month and for sale for less than €100,000, this region represents great value for money.
