GUARDAMAR DEL SEGURA
This reasonably quiet residential town, surrounded by predominantly British clusters at La Marina, Quesada, Rojales and parts of Torrevieja, which is also popular with many Northern Europeans, retains two distinct areas: the original and central town area, with a Spanish feel, traditional building style, and plenty of local commerce; and the marina area characterised by its surrounding, predominantly newer-build inventory. The town and marina areas are separated by a natural area, characterised by forests and a sandy beach.
Both areas are flat and offer generally good accessibility and ease of access to amenities. Due to the almost trebling of the area’s population, the number of residents now assigned to the local hospitals in Torrevieja have seen a significant increase, meaning that response times have gone up, over time.
