The town is accessed from above, and immediately the impression is of a planned resort not dissimilar to Vera on the Costa Calida border, or a smaller version of Vilamoura in the Algarve. The centrepieces are the marina, with its extensive marina berths, all served by a well-designed access road that facilitates access, and the golf course. Like Roquetas, the area is served by an international school.
